GM Alternators

GM ALTERNATORS & HIGH-OUTPUT CHARGING OPTIONS
FOR CLASSIC CHEVY, ENGINE SWAPS & CUSTOM BUILDS

Find the charging capacity and alternator configuration your build needs. Shop CVF Racing GM alternators, including 100 and 140 amp GM 10SI-style units, 160-amp CS130 options and high-output Mechman alternators. Chrome and Black finishes are available on selected models.

Choose by your accessory drive's required alternator style, electrical demand and installation space. Confirm the case configuration, mounting dimensions, pulley and wiring requirements before selecting a replacement or upgrade.

Match Your GM Alternator to Your Accessory Drive

GM 10SI-Style 1-Wire Alternators

Explore 100- and 140-amp options for compatible brackets and pulley systems. These internally regulated 12V alternators offer a simple 1-wire charging connection for classic cars, hot rods and custom installations.

GM CS130 Alternators

CVF's 160-amp CS130 1-wire alternators provide another configuration for compatible accessory drives. Check your system's specified alternator, including mounting details and charging-terminal clearance. GM 10SI and CS130 labels identify different alternator configurations and should not be treated as interchangeable fitment.

High-Output Mechman Alternators

For builds with greater electrical demand, explore the 300-amp Mechman 1-wire alternator. Confirm compatibility with your CVF system and the required pulley, mounting hardware and charging cables before upgrading.

Complete the Installation

Match charging cables, grounding and circuit protection to the selected alternator's requirements. Browse alternator adapter kits and wiring or alternator fans and pulleys for compatible installation components.

GM Alternator FAQs

How do I know which GM alternator fits my CVF system?

Start with the alternator specification in your system's product listing or installation instructions. Confirm mounting-ear dimensions, rear support requirements, pulley alignment and case clearance. Our aftermarket alternator fitment guide explains additional details to check.

Do GM alternators only work on Chevy engines?

Some CVF accessory drives for other engine makes also specify GM-style alternators. Choose the alternator required by the bracket system rather than relying on the engine's make alone.

How much alternator output do I need?

Account for the electrical equipment you operate together, including cooling fans, fuel pumps, ignition, lighting and audio. Consider demand while idling as well as cruising, and compare it with the selected alternator's output information.

Will a higher-rated alternator produce its full advertised output at idle?

Advertised amperage is not a guarantee of output at idle. Actual output varies with alternator speed and operating temperature. Review available output charts and consider your pulley ratio when comparing options.

Can I install a higher-output alternator without changing anything else?

Review the complete installation first. The upgrade may require different charging cables, circuit protection, pulley components or mounting hardware. Follow the selected alternator's instructions and confirm compatibility with your accessory drive.
