AN Hose End FAQs
Will any hose end fit a hose with the same AN size?
Matching AN sizes is only one requirement. The hose end must also match the hose's construction and intended service. Confirm compatibility between the specific hose and fitting, particularly when choosing between PTFE and conventional braided hose components.
Can I use a low-pressure hose end on a power steering pressure line?
Use a hose end and hose assembly specified for the pressure side of the system. Low-pressure return fittings should not be substituted based on appearance or AN size. Check the product's intended use before assembling the line.
How do I choose the fitting angle?
Plan the hose route from the connection outward. Choose an angle that provides clearance and allows the hose to follow its required bend radius without pulling sideways on the fitting. Account for engine movement and nearby belts, exhaust and sharp edges.
Do hose ends connect directly to metric or NPT ports?
These AN hose ends connect to a compatible mating AN fitting. A component with a metric, NPT or inverted-flare port generally requires the appropriate adapter. Verify the connection and sealing style on both sides.
